** Previous Grade Level Review
PreK-Kindergarten
Students at these grade levels do not have the ability to distinguish specific internet safety issues in general, but they can be taught specific items. Think Stranger Danger.
Ethical and Legal Safety:
- If you do not understand written text on the computer, ask for help from a responsible adult.
- Students to understand the concept of online personal property with regards to text, pictures, music and video. (The basic concept of “Mine.”)
Hardware and Software Safety:
- Do not play with the computers powercords or batteries, if you accidently break something, tell an adult.
Personal and Social Safety:
- Responsible Adult: Do not use the computer without an adult present to monitor use.
- Use “Trusted Websites” that responsible adults (teachers, parents, guardians) allow you to use. Try to stay on these websites, if you accidently go to another website, tell the adult.
- Personal Information: Do not type your name, phone number, address or other information into the computer (most will not be able to fill in the blanks, but you never know), without adult permission (this is an opportunity to give a stranger danger lesson). This is the same information that you would not give if you met a person on the street.
